When I was 14, I saw a commercial for a margarine brand where a fish jumped from one frying pan to another because that pan was using the advertised margarine. The jumping bit was obviously done in post because fish don't usually jump from one pan to another because of a cooking liquid preference, let alone jump at all when lying in a frying pan. Because they're dead. Anyways, while the fish is hanging mid-air between the two pans, it suddenly gets cartoon eyes and a mouth and yells "Yeeehaa" with excitement before landing on the pan. Cut to packshot and we’re done.

That commercial is the reason I got into advertising. Sadly they don't teach you how to make commercials starring fish with cartoon-looking eyes in high school. So after graduation, I went to the Danish School Of Advertising, hoping they could teach me. They did, but I wanted to become even better at it. So, I went to Miami Ad School. Two years later, I’d become pretty good at making ads starring fish with cartoon-looking eyes, and I landed my first job as a Junior Copywriter.

Today, I’m an Associate Creative Director at Edelman working on various clients and no, the animated fish ad hasn’t happened. But hey, life goals, right?
